Re: FartCan FVRV8 Championship Round 3
This is one track where practice is needed. Especially at the 2 chicanes. There isn't a lot of room for passing so knowing the track will be an advantage. This is one track where we really have to respect the other cars/drivers on the track. Dave has also changed the server settings so we can press ESC while driving to return to the garage, instead of having to come to a complete stop first. This can help stop accidents especially in the chicanes.
Good luck but most of all have fun.

Re: FartCan FVRV8 Championship Round 3
Nib is 100% correct, Had a practice on this track and man it is a tuff one.
Get some practice or you will end up very frustrated on race night. And you may even ruin another drivers night
Best thing you can do on this track is start out driving at around 75-80% and as the laps go by push it up, but there is no room for mistakes here.
Good Luck guys hope everyone can make Monday Night.

I am running Windows 7 now for anyone interested, I did my first real gaming test last night and it was ok. I was running Rfactor in trail mode as i have run out of licences so i am not sure if that played a factor but Rfactor does not like the ALT TAB in Windows 7, It crashes when i use it. I would not pay for Windows 7 as its too expensive, I am running the evaluation.

by the way would it be possible to hav private qually for this track as 1 crash may be enough to stop ppl from laying down a time, or alternativly just take our times from the hotlaps as qually? just a thought

Had a ball last night, Wasn't feeling all that flash but felt much better once the racing started, congrats to everyone, trying times with Lag & Warping but hopefully that will all be fixed this week. Congratulations to Nib on 2 great race wins , the man is unstoppable even with 200kg he came from last to first in 15 laps, great effort, next week his weight penalty will be a block of flats plus we'll fill the car with Afghan refugees maybe that'll slow him down, Although i doubt it.
Cheers Dave

Last Night:-
Well done on the clean sweep Nibiru, very impressive driving.
Even though I didn't get the results I was hoping for I still enjoyed the racing. I've raced there often enough to know not to count on avoiding incidents, either of your own making or someone else's. Its good practice at sucking it up and finishing the best you can.
I had enough highlights to satisfy me; I was happy to set a PB in qualifying and get my pit-stop in race 2 right(and happy to make it back to pits with a blown tyre suffered at the 1st chicane.) In the 1st race I fell into the trap of trying too hard after an unlucky start and fell further behind. Race 2 started badly too but I kept calm and drove me butt off to get up to 4th before having to make the decision to do a "splash'n'dash" with a lap to go.
Q. If I had continued but ran out of fuel after Nibiru finished, would I have been credited with my position at that time, or do I have to complete the last lap? The TV_Style results were being displayed while I was still completing the last lap.

All cars on the same lap as you, that pass the point on the track where you ran out of fuel would again that position. All cars that where a lap or more behind you would stay behind you. So if you had stayed on the track and ran out of fuel you would have lost a few places. The end results though would have been the same in this case. All races will be different depending on the field.
Well Done everyone!! On a testing track with some trying conditions, there where a couple of incidents but everyone seemed to drive to the conditions and the incidents seemed to be minimized. Keep it up guys. Next week the lag/warping should be over. Fingers Crossed
Well Done to all the podium winners and to all that finished the races. Also to Adnan and Lachlan for the fastest laps in race 1 & 2
Back to Phillip Island in 2 weeks

Re: FartCan FVRV8 Championship Round 3
Good explanation, Nibiru, I thought running out on the last lap would mean a DNF, therefore no points.
Also spotted Gman's comment in the chat-box last night - "I didn't know it was a rally event". I guess he missed the discussion on Ventrilo where cutting the grass at the first chicane was given the okay.
Is it possible to implement corner-cutting penalties as in V8 Supercars? As long as its the same for everybody its fair but a couple of guys probably didn't know they could use that bit of grass.

I'm not aware of being able to have cutting penalties without having the pace car come out as well when an accident happens. But I'll look into it. The rule is to keep at least 2 wheels on the track.

Found this thread on corner cutting. There is an addon-on tool you can get for corner cutting but it's a bit of work to get it going. You need to manually create the cutting zones. see thread

Re: FartCan FVRV8 Championship Round 3
What a shame its so cumbersome, not like in V8SupercarsIII, where you can easily choose the track marshal's severity, and you can also set the number of warnings before a drive-through penalty is applied.
Is there an rFactor 2 in the works?
BTW, the Surfers results aren't showing on the results page for me, even after refreshing.

Yeah I know. But I guess thats what happens when you allow ppl to create new tracks, the feature would be added when the track is made.
LordOfTheRims wrote:Is there an rFactor 2 in the works?
YES....But no news on when it's going to be out. check the interview with Gjon Camaj the creator of rFactor. It starts about 7min into the show.

Try going through the results tab on the navigation bar next to Hotlaps

No excuses porky, apart from getting hit hard from behind which made my car almost undrivable the walls got the better of me. Like Rims said its good experiance especialy on that track. Now next week will be interesting as I love Phillip Island.
Lots of room to pass as well.

hahaha plently of crunch at PI and plently of runoff nib, hmm some great battles have taken place at Phillip island to forge the Fartcan series as it is now, heart grabing highs, gut wrenching lows and most of all. Lachlan winning

I seem to recall you only won the 2nd race. There was different winner in race 1.....and wasn't your car lighter in the 2nd race

Well Well Well !!
Not to mention Lachlan the (Dive Bomber) tried a move on me in the second race hit me but spun himself out.
Be carefull Lachlan you dont want to become another graduate of the Kelly Bros school of shit driving, Greg Murphy graduated and we know what a great driver he is, just ask Marcus Ambrose.
